How it all began
“Our first photo together: Brisbane, Australia in 2019!”
—
It’s a bit full circle that our story began at the airport, because if you know us you know that is still where we tend to spend the majority of our time. It was February 2019 and we just endured 24 hours of travel to spend the next several months exploring and studying in Queensland, Australia. Those airport introductions led to spending the next several months intentionally getting to know one another while making memories in such a beautiful part of the world. Though we were having the time of our lives, we assumed our story would end when we went back to our respective hometowns on opposite sides of the United States. Shannon kept a journal while abroad, one of her final posts describing the weight of sadness she felt knowing that could be the last time we would spend time together in person. Here we are, 5 years later, forever grateful that our story did not end here.
We kept in touch through our Senior Year of college, Nick at The University of Colorado- Boulder, and Shannon at the University of South Carolina, hoping for the opportunity to run into each other again. Our collegiate Senior Year was cut short due to the events of 2020, though the pandemic paved the way for new beginnings. Nick chose to continue his studies at CU Boulder to pursue his Masters Degree, and Shannon decided to pursue an opportunity to move cross-country to Denver, Colorado- the excitement of living in the same city began to stir.
We were cautiously optimistic that the inevitable truth would indeed be the reality- we reunited the day Shannon moved to Denver and have been inseparable ever since. Our years thus far have been spent seeing the world together, eating lots of delicious food and going to every Red Rocks show we can. We are incredibly grateful for the life we will continue to build as a family, and can not believe that we are lucky enough to have each other for eternity. Your presence in our lives has shaped our story in ways big and small, and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you all in our “happy place”.
